Feature Friday: Use the Master Product Editor to Bulk Edit Inventory

Edit your inventory in bulk. The easy way.
iConnect POS offers several features that are specifically designed with multi-location businesses, such as franchises and chains, in mind. One such feature is the master product editor. This simple yet powerful tool allows a user with the proper access permissions to edit inventory in bulk across multiple stores, saving hours of time in the process. Today, we’re going to quickly go over how to access and use this tool on the web POS app to help increase your productivity and efficiency when it comes to managing your inventory.
Step 1: Navigate to the master product editor in your iConnect POS account.
The master product editor screen can be accessed from the web POS app by clicking “Catalog” in the left hand menu bar, then clicking “Inventory Management,” and finally clicking “Master product editor” in the submenu.
Step 2: Choose your filters.
The master product editor screen is separated into two sections. At the top, we have our filters. These filters give you the option of narrowing down which products you would like to edit. You can filter by store location, category, or SKU.
For this example, we’re only going to pull products from the “General Retail” location that are in the “Books” and “General” categories. SKU is useful if you have a text file or spreadsheet with the specific SKUs you need to update. Once you’ve set all the filters, click the “Filter” button, and the bottom half of the screen will load up with products.
Step 3: Edit the products.
Now that all the products are loaded, you can edit the following by typing directly into the text fields: product photo, SKU, name, code, cost, price, member price, minimum reorder point, maximum reorder point, option to pay by membership, and short description. You can also delete products by checking the box to the left of the product(s) you wish to delete and then clicking the red trash can icon at the top of the table. For this example, we’re just going to change the cost and price of a couple products. Once you’ve updated all necessary information, click the “Save” button at the bottom of the screen.
You’ll notice that the product table is paged and only displays 5 products per page. This is in order to maximize load speeds. To finish editing all the products that match the filters you set, simply go through each page, edit the necessary information, and click “Save.”
As you can see, this is a very easy yet efficient way to edit multiple products across store locations. While it is a particularly useful tool for multi-location businesses, it’s also perfectly suitable for single location businesses that want to quickly edit products in a table format.
